Studies into Omega 3 Fatty Acids
Scientists at Purdue University (West Lafayette, Indiana) proved
that boys with low blood levels of essential Omega 3 fatty acids are
more likely to exhibit symptoms of ADHD. (June
1996)
- In 1994, researchers at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine,
in Baltimore conducted controlled clinical trials on the efficacy
of fish oil in reducing blood pressure.
In this study, they concluded that supplementation with fish oil at
a high dose (more than three grams per day) can result in clinically
significant reductions in blood pressure in individuals with untreated
hypertension.
- Researchers at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center
on Aging at Tufts University in Boston reported
in 2005 that vitamin E and two forms of vitamin B appear to slow the
progression of cataracts, as does a high dietary intake of the omega-3
fatty acids typically found in dark-fleshed fish and Omega Gold.
- Professor Lawrence Whalley, of Aberdeen University, in his book, “The
Ageing Brain” (Columbia University Press, 2001)
says "Whatever your doctor tells you is good for your heart
is likely to be good for your brain as well.” His
advice includes eating several meals of fish or taking supplements
containing Omega 3 fatty acids to keep the brain agile.

Heart Health
- Scientists in Belgium determined that patients with rheumatoid arthritis
who took supplements of Omega 3 fatty acids were able to reduce their
dosages of concomitant antirheumatic medications.
- The American Heart Association recommends eating fish or taking Omega
3 supplements because EPA and DHA decrease the risk of arrhythmias,
which can lead to sudden cardiac death; decrease triglyceride levels,
decrease growth rate of atherosclerotic plaque and lower blood pressure
